Application Report of Oil-Air Lubrication in High-Speed Wire Rod Roller Conveyors

Aosen Steel produces various specifications of wire rod using high-speed wire rod production. When producing specialty steels, the high temperatures significantly affect the roller bearings on the air-cooled roller conveyor.

The original grease lubrication method resulted in a large amount of iron oxide scale in the air-cooled roller conveyor area. Under the action of the roller conveyor fan, this scale easily enters the roller bearings and adheres to the chain, significantly impacting the lifespan of the roller bearings, drive chains, and sprockets. Furthermore, the lubrication effect was unsatisfactory, leading to high labor intensity for workers and high lubrication costs.

Through technical exchanges with Yantai Huashun, oil-air lubrication technology was adopted for the air-cooled roller conveyors. After one year of use in Workshop 6, the results were remarkable, significantly reducing production costs. Given the significant results, the air-cooled roller conveyors in Workshops 5 and 7 have now been converted to oil-air lubrication.

The oil-air lubrication system is highly suitable for the lubrication of air-cooled roller conveyors, overcoming the shortcomings and deficiencies of grease lubrication, eliminating production accidents caused by roller bearing damage, greatly reducing the frequency of bearing and roller replacements, thereby reducing online downtime and improving operational efficiency.

Meanwhile, since almost 100% of the lubricating oil is utilized, it does not pollute the on-site environment. Oil-air lubrication not only significantly reduces equipment operating and maintenance costs but also greatly reduces the labor intensity of workers refueling, and improves lubrication reliability.

Oil-air lubrication, as a relatively advanced lubrication method, has a very broad application prospect in the metallurgical industry. This is because the lubrication system has unparalleled advantages: reduced costs, labor savings, reduced maintenance, and virtually no environmental pollution.
