In an oil-air lubrication system, the oil-air distributor is a critical component responsible for ensuring precise and efficient lubricant delivery to each lubrication point. After the oil and compressed air are mixed into a stable oil-air flow, the distributor plays the key role of dividing and directing this flow according to the specific requirements of each friction pair.
The primary function of an oil-air distributor is to distribute the oil-air mixture either equally or proportionally to multiple lubrication points. This ensures that every bearing or friction surface receives the correct amount of lubricant, preventing both under-lubrication and excessive oil supply, thereby improving system efficiency and equipment reliability.
Oil-air distributors are typically classified into primary (first-stage) and secondary (second-stage) distributors, each serving a different purpose within the system:
- Primary oil-air distributor: Installed directly after the lubrication station, it is used to distribute the oil-air flow to multiple secondary distributors. It is usually equipped with a filter screen, which helps remove impurities from the lubricating oil and protects downstream components.
- Secondary oil-air distributor: Connected to the outlets of the primary distributor, it delivers the oil-air mixture directly to each lubrication point. Secondary distributors generally do not include filter screens, as filtration is handled upstream.
- Combined (dual-stage) distributor: Some distributors integrate filtering functions and can be used either as a primary unit connected to the station or installed downstream of another distributor, offering greater flexibility in system design.
By ensuring accurate distribution, filtration, and controlled delivery, oil-air distributors help maintain optimal lubrication conditions, reduce wear, and extend the service life of critical equipment.
