Oil-Air Lubrication System Installation Guide | Key Requirements

Release time:

2022-06-22

In modern industrial production, large mechanical equipment plays a critical role in ensuring continuous and efficient operation.

As an important equipment protection system, the installation quality of an oil-air lubrication system directly affects lubrication performance, equipment reliability, and service life.

To ensure the system operates efficiently and stably, several key installation requirements should be carefully considered.

1. Install the Distributor Close to Lubrication Points

The oil-air distributor should be installed as close as possible to the lubrication points.

A shorter delivery distance helps:

  • Reduce pressure loss
  • Improve lubricant delivery efficiency
  • Ensure stable oil-air flow
  • Maintain consistent lubrication performance

Proper distributor positioning is especially important for large industrial equipment with multiple lubrication points.

2. Keep Pipelines Clean and Properly Arranged

Before pipeline installation, all pipes must be cleaned to remove:

  • Dust
  • Metal particles
  • Processing residues
  • Other contaminants

During installation, avoid unnecessary:

  • Sharp bends
  • Excessive vertical lifting
  • Long-distance transportation routes

A well-designed pipeline layout helps maintain stable oil-air flow and reduces the risk of blockage.

3. Ensure a Clean and Stable Air Supply

Oil-air lubrication systems require clean compressed air as the transport medium.

Recommended air supply conditions:

  • Pressure: approximately 4–6 bar
  • Medium: clean compressed air or nitrogen

Clean air quality is essential to prevent contamination and ensure reliable system operation.

4. Confirm Power Supply Requirements

Power requirements depend on system configuration.

Typical requirements include:

  • Small testing systems: 220V / 1kW
  • Systems equipped with gear pumps or heaters: 380V power supply

Additional components may include:

  • Heating element: around 2kW
  • Gear pump: around 550W

Large systems may require multiple heating elements according to reservoir capacity and operating conditions.

5. Select Suitable Lubricant

For industrial applications, oil-air lubrication systems generally use:

  • High-temperature extreme-pressure gear oil
  • Synthetic lubricating oil

Recommended viscosity range:

ISO VG 220–320

Suitable lubricant selection ensures stable oil film formation under high temperature and heavy load conditions.

Reliable Installation Ensures Long-Term Performance

A properly installed oil-air lubrication system provides the foundation for:

  • Stable equipment operation
  • Reduced wear
  • Lower maintenance requirements
  • Longer component life

By following correct installation practices, industrial equipment can maintain reliable lubrication performance even under harsh conditions such as high temperature, heavy load, and dusty environments.
