Billet Continuous Casting Machines: Why Key Components Rely on Oil–Air Lubrication?

Release time:

2025-11-13

In steelmaking, the stable operation of a billet continuous casting machine directly affects product quality and production efficiency. Under harsh conditions such as high temperatures, heavy loads, moisture, and dust, oil–air lubrication plays a critical role in protecting key components.

At the mold area, oil–air lubrication forms a durable oil film that reduces friction and wear under extreme heat, extending service life. For the oscillation table, precise oil supply ensures smooth high-frequency motion and helps maintain billet quality.

In the secondary cooling zone, roller groups operate in wet environments where corrosion is a constant risk. Oil–air lubrication creates an effective barrier against moisture, significantly reducing roller wear. The withdrawal and straightening units, which work under high loads, benefit from improved heat dissipation and stable bearing lubrication.

Key transmission points—including pinch rolls, pre- and post-cut rollers, transport rollers, billet run-out tables, transfer devices, hot delivery rollers, and cooling beds—also rely on oil–air lubrication to minimize resistance, reduce mechanical wear, and prevent unplanned downtime.

With its precise oil delivery, efficient lubrication, and reduced consumption, oil–air lubrication ensures reliable operation across all critical sections of billet continuous casting machines, supporting stable, efficient, and sustainable steel production.
