The oil supply pumps used in oil-air lubrication systems are all fixed displacement pumps. Structurally, they include horizontal gear pumps, vertical gear pumps, electromagnetic pumps, and pneumatic pumps, etc. The selection is based on the system's oil consumption and delivery distance.
The rated displacement of these pumps is relatively small; for example, a horizontal gear pump has a displacement of 1.6 L/min, a vertical gear pump has a displacement of 0.16 L/min, and pneumatic pumps have displacements of 6 mV/stroke, 5 mV/stroke, 4 ml/stroke, 2 ml/stroke, 0.1 ml/stroke, and 0.25 ml/stroke.
In oil-air lubrication systems, the pump typically operates intermittently according to a set work/pause cycle. Given the pump's rated displacement, the length of its working and pause times depends on the amount of lubricating oil required at the lubrication points. The principle of multiple small-volume supply is generally adopted in selecting the oil supply quantity to facilitate the formation of a more continuous, thinner, and finer oil film layer in the oil-air pipeline, thereby achieving a more satisfactory lubrication effect.
